A squad of 8 U12/13 footballing geniuses travelled to Sunderland, after previously winning the Manchester and Greater Manchester Futsal tournaments, to represent the North West. The squad started the day with what can only be described as a “MEGA” breakfast from the hotel that put the boys in high spirits. The tournament was held in the new £19 million venue Beacon of Light which was breathtakingly impressive.
After losing their first game 2-1 to Hurworth School, the team improved their performances and went on to beat Newfield School 5-1, drew to eventual winners Ridgeway High school 2-2 and in their final game beat Great Sankey 5-1. This meant that they finished in second place overall, meaning they have qualified for the National Finals in two weeks’ time.
