Welcome to our website which we hope will give you a flavour of what life is like at St. Bede’s College. St Bede’s was founded in 1876 by Cardinal Vaughan, who at that time was Bishop of Salford. We are incredibly proud of our deep-rooted Catholic faith and we are equally proud of the College we have become; a wonderfully diverse, multi-cultural, multi-faith school family.
On entering the main corridor our visitors often comment on the atmosphere as there is a special buzz as everyone is engaged in their daily routine. Our pupils have a wealth of talents and there are many opportunities for these to be developed in the classroom and beyond. Sport, drama, music, school visits and the co-curricular provision are often topics of discussion amongst our pupils.
Teachers have a fantastic working relationship with our pupils and they are always prepared to go the extra mile so that all pupils are motivated and grow in confidence. We believe the partnership of child, parent and College will enable the best educational experience for your child. Our pastoral provision is excellent and the team is there to support pupils with their well-being.
As a team we regularly evaluate our provision and we adapt as required. Our virtual provision during the Covid-19 challange has been highly praised.
As a teacher it is very rewarding to see how our pupils grow as they journey through the College. It is great to see young adults move on to leading Russell group universities, apprenticeships, life in sport and gap years as they end their journey in the classroom, but at the same time it is pleasing that so many pupils want to remain in touch and share their success. Once a Bedian always a Bedian!
Enjoy your time exploring the website as you begin your journey with St. Bede’s. Please do not hesitate to contact the College if you have any questions. I look forward to welcoming you whenever you visit the College.
Mrs Sandra Pike
The excellent outcomes in pupils’ personal development are due to the strong commitment of senior leaders, governors and staff to providing high levels of pastoral support.
